Who is God? And what are we to him?

The Bible says that we are his creatures, created “in his own image”(Genesis1:27). But are we more than that?

In Romans 8:16-17 it states that “we are the children of God: And if children then heirs: heirs of God, and joint-heirs of Christ:” And John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:”  We are the sons and daughters of God as long as we believe in the eternal gospel of Jesus, we then become the  brothers and sisters of Christ!

Divine sonship is not something that we gain of ourselves. Only to those who receive Christ as their Savior is given the power to become sons and daughters of God. The Creator of the world addresses you as an affectionate Father. Your Heavenly Father proposes to make you a member of the royal family, that through His exceeding great and precious promises you may be a partaker of the divine nature…If you call God your Father, you acknowledge yourself as his child, to be guided by His wisdom, and to be obedient in all things, knowing that His love is changeless!
